Instead of ready-made sausages, it’s a good idea to buy raw ham and prepare it yourself at home. Cooked will remain juicy and tender. It will taste great with a slice of fresh bread spread with butter and pickled cucumber. How to cook a ham?
Ham is a delicatessen product obtained from pork carcass, chilled or frozen with or without bone. Muscle color may be light pink to red, matting is allowed. Color of fat – white with a cream or slightly pink shade, in the case of meat and frozen fat, a slight graying of the color on the surface is allowed. The smell is characteristic of fresh pork meat.
Ingredients:
- 1 kg boneless ham
- 4 garlic cloves
- 5 juniper and allspice seeds each
- marjoram
- salt and pepper
Prepare:
Place the Cooking Ham in a pot sized to fit the size of the ham, so that cooking takes place in the least amount of water. Pour the ham to the level water 5 cm above the ham.
We bring it to a boil quickly and reduce the cooking intensity to very much slow (so-called cooking on a single roll).
After about 40 minutes, we try decoction, salt and season to taste. The amount of salt we regulate trying the decoction, which should be clearly salty as well as seasoned chicken soup. Depending on your preference for salt, we can use salt or veggie.
You can also add allspice and laurel leaves to get distinctive aroma and taste.
Cooking time (we cook all the time on a “single roll”!) Depends on the weight of the ham.
We cook as many hours as kilograms ham weighs plus half an hour. So 1.5 kg raw
Boil the ham 1.5 + 0.5 = 2 hours making sure that it is covered with water all the time.
Finally, we check the softness of the ham by inserting a wooden stick into it flock. We can also use, for example, a skewer stick. To cooked Flock hams should come in with a slight resistance.
Put the cooked ham and broth in a covered pot until completely cool (preferably for the whole night). Thanks to this, the ham obtains adequate juiciness.
After cooling, we dry the ham and cool it in the fridge.
Cooked in this way, the ham will be slightly moist and crunchy. Enjoy your meal!
